Nuisance birds are a serious and often underestimated pest in South Florida. Pigeons, house sparrows, and European starlings roost on ledges, signs, solar panels, and rooftops, and their acidic droppings stain and corrode building materials, clog gutters and drains, and create slip hazards on walkways. Their nests block vents and can be a genuine fire risk, while the droppings and nesting debris harbor mites and can spread more than 60 transmissible diseases.

Getting rid of pest birds is not about harming them — it is about making your property an unwelcome place to land, roost, and nest, and physically excluding them from the spots they favor. Common types we treat in South Florida

• Pigeons. The most common urban pest bird — bold, highly reproductive, and loyal to roosting sites. Controlled with netting, spikes, wire, and ledge exclusion.
• House sparrows. Small, aggressive cavity-nesters that pack signs, vents, and soffits with nesting material. Managed with exclusion and nest removal.
• European starlings. Flock in large, noisy numbers and displace native birds; nest in vents and cavities. Controlled with exclusion and deterrents.
• Roosting flocks. Grackles and other birds that gather on ledges, canopies, and parking structures — reduced with deterrents and habitat modification.
